Head Teacher’s Blog 30/11/17

Dear Parents and Cares,

What a wonderful event the Christmas Fayre was! Thank you all for helping, supporting and coming along to a great night. A superb evening was had by all.

Class photos: the Parent Council have surveyed parents and cares and have found 70% prefer the traditional style of class photos. We shall arrange this for you for 7 and 8 March 2018.

The ROSPA assessor was very pleased with our playground at its quarterly assessment. We have ordered washed pea gravel, hopefully it will be delivered at the weekend. A section of the front playground has been sectioned off to hold it, until the builders move it to the climbing frame area!

We are purchasing new sets of novels for our reading groups. If you would like to recommend any new authors, or particular books, please let your class teachers know.

The children raised £91 for McMillan Cancer from the ‘number of sweets in a jar’ event. Edgar and Oscar (P3) are collecting loose change to top it up to £100.

Alisha’s picture (P7) has come first in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children competition (age 8-12 category). Her picture will be framed and displayed in the hospital.

Social Bite visited P4B to talk about the work they do to help the homeless. This ties in very well with our Community Team learning on Zero Hunger. Thank you Rory for organising this.

The netball team won against St George’s Primary School and play against St Peters this week. Good luck Bruntsfield!

One Parent Families Scotland, ‘Dad’s Club’, organise weekly free outings for children and their Dads. Further information is available on info@opfs.org.uk

Christmas Lunch is on Thursday 7 December. The choices are either traditional roast turkey or a vegetarian Quorn roast. Should your child not wish either roast, they are welcome to bring a packed lunch and join in the fun. Details on the options have been sent from the School Office.

The Wildlife Club, organised by Earth Calling, have spaces in their Thursday Club for P4-P7 (3.15-5.15 pm),. The children try exciting challenges, learn ‘outdoor’ skills and interact with their local environment. If your child is interested in joining the club, please contact Gus on info@earthcalling.org or visit  earthcalling.org

We have had an amazing week of Showcases Events from P4, P5 and P6. Thank you all for coming along, sharing and talking about learning with the classes.

 Kind regards,

Carol Kyle
