Primary 1A News
P1A have had a busy week!
We began with our ‘soft start’ activities in the mornings. These are fun activities to help us develop all the skills we are learning.
In Literacy we have started learning some consonant blends as well as remembering to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops when we are writing. We are trying to use our tricky words in our writing too. This week we wrote stories about people we have helped. Our teachers are very proud of our sentences! We are also enjoying having Leo’s mum in to help us choose new library books.
In Numeracy we have been working on the number before and after, up to 20. We have been learning what the ‘+’ sign means and counting two collections to see what the total is. Next week we are going to start looking at coins.
As part of our People Who Help Us topic we are grateful to Millie and Emilia’s mums who have been in to visit us. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the roles of hairdressers and Polish teachers. Next week we are looking forward to a police constable, Iona’s dad and Anthony’s uncle coming in to visit us!
Our Welcome Books include class dates for your diary, some information about the curriculum and ways to support your child’s learning.
We are pleased to provide details of our class timetables for 2017/2018.
