Sporting Achievements

On Wednesday 13th May a combined P6/P7 Bruntsfield football team took part in the second round of the Inspectors Cup at Meggetland playing fields.

Cheered on by parents and Mr Gilhooley, the boys put in an incredible performance in the driving rain against extremely tough opposition. They ended up winning one match, drawing another and narrowly losing the other two. Unfortunately their journey ends at this stage of the competition. Well done to the whole team for setting such high standards and never giving up. They can all be proud of how they represented the school and themselves. Well done Josh V (P6A), Joshua H, Elliott S (P6C), Oscar L, Max L, Luca P (P7A), Jack R (P7B), Jack C, Ralphie D and Max W (P7D).

On Thursday 14th May, in pretty miserable weather,  Bruntsfield P6 and P7 Girls played in the first round of the EPSSA cup.  They were in a really rough group with Sciennes Cup Winners TNP, Pentland, Bonaly and Blackhall.  Bruntsfield competed well and finished second and successfully progress to the next round which is on May 28th. Well done girls!

Our school was participating in the Interscholastic Sports competition on Monday. We competed in the 80m , 600m, cricket throw, long jump and boys, girls and mixed relays.  We did extremely well in all areas getting into the majority of the finals.  Our P7 girls came over all 3rd in the girl’s relay and got bronze medals and our boys P7 team got pipped at the post for a 4th place.  Tilly (P7D) came 4th in her final for the 80m and Oscar (P7A) came in 4th in the 600m. All the children did well and should be proud of their achievements as we are as a school. Well done !

Bruntsfield Bake Sale!

The much-awaited Bake Sale is back at Bruntsfield Primary School! On Friday 29th May, during the school day, all pupils will get to enjoy a delicious selection of treats, with our beloved school mascot Brunzee joining in the fun. This event is not only a chance to enjoy some tasty bakes, but also a great opportunity for children to learn how small businesses work in practice. Our pupils will be taking the lead in running the sale, giving them hands-on experience in selling, while the rest of the school will get to pick and enjoy their favourite treats. Please save the date! We will need helpers on the day, and of course lots of bakes so that everyone can enjoy a well-deserved treat.  Please find the flyer attached.

Morningside Umbrella Festival

The Morningside Umbrella Festival is aiming to create a miniature umbrella rainbow around the perimeter of Morningside Parish Church, and 949 umbrellas are needed to create the rainbow. The organisers of the Festival have offered us the opportunity to purchase these umbrellas before they go on general sale on Saturday 30th May when the festival opens. They will be outside the school gates on Wednesday 20th May from 2.45pm. Umbrellas are available for a recommended donation of £10. They hope their card machine will work outside but if you can bring cash it would be appreciated. You will also be able to collect an event programme which will give you the full details of the activities planned over the 2 weeks. Details of their family ceilidh are also attached. Please show your support for this local community fundraising campaign.
