Head Teacher’s Update

Assembly

On Monday we talked about anxiety and stress and the strategies we can use to cope with these issues. We shared our achievements, celebrated birthdays and congratulated our certificate winners.  Class of the Week was P7A.

Achievement

Congratulations to Ralphie, Max W, Odin (P7D) who wrote a short movie called “Hot Ticket” which their teacher submitted on their behalf to Edinburgh & Lothians Schools Film Competition. Their movie, which features themselves, supporting actors (P7 pupils) and the local community, has been selected by a Youth Jury to feature in the final competition on the 15th of June at a nearby cinema! Well done to all pupils (and a parent cameo) involved!

Sports Day

On Wednesday, we had an amazing Sports Day in Bruntsfield Links.  The weather stayed fair and our new format seemed to go down really well across the school community! Many thanks to Ms Knust for all her organising and P7D and Miss McKenna for supporting on the day. Thanks again to all the supporters who made it along too!

Summer Weather

We have enjoyed mostly sunny days this week with higher temperatures and cloudless skies.  Our staff cannot apply sunscreen to the children, so please ensure sunscreen is applied first thing in the morning or if they can apply the cream themselves, they could bring a small tube with them just in case.  Sunhats etc are optional!

Session 2026/27

As expected, our class numbers for next year will reduce from 21 to 19.  We have bucked the national and local roll trend for the last 3 years as our pupil numbers have remained high.  However, we have been allocated 2 Primary 1 classes this coming year and we drop from 4 to 3 P7 classes. We hope to finalise teacher allocations over the next 2 weeks.

Summer Fair

The Summer Fair was great fun.  We raised a lot of money for our school on a wonderful Saturday afternoon.  Many thanks to our Events Committee and the people who volunteered on the day.  The success of the day was down to our fantastic Bruntsfield Community and teamwork.

Lagganlia

I will be leading our first P7 group residential adventure to Lagganlia all week next week.  We are looking forward to an amazing 5 days.  Ms Lamond, Mrs Nicol and Mrs Dobie will be available to support in any way while I’m away.

The Bruntsfield Cup – Girls Football Tournament

It’s just over a week until we host our second Bruntsfield Cup on Saturday 6th June from 9am- 12.30pm at Harrison park.  This year we expect over 400 children, 39 teams and 10 schools to come along. The full schedule can be found below –
