Head Teacher’s Update

Staffing Update

Unfortunately, we will be losing our brilliant Pupil Support Officer Mrs Cheryl Tait who has taken up ‘her dream job’.  We wish her all the best. She will be well missed for her parent groups, support on attendance, breakfast club and nurture/learning groups.

We are advertising for a new dynamic people person to take on this role presently.  Look out for it on Myjobscotland and other sites.

Parent Consultations

Our Parent Consultations will commence next week with the majority of appointments from Tuesday to Thursday.  Teachers will try to keep to time. We ask for your support to arrive on time and adhere to our 10 minute slot.

Don’t forget!

A week on Monday (Monday 18th May) is Victoria Day – an Edinburgh public holiday.  School will be closed on the Monday and return on Tuesday 19th May.

Uniform

Following City of Edinburgh policy on uniform, we now cannot insist that children wear sweatshirts with our logo on it.  However, we would like to see children with a light blue sweatshirt (P1-P6) and a dark blue hoodie (P7) in school every day.  We do have lots of smart seconds in school.  Look out for our free seconds stalls in the front playground, ask at the School Office, or email Family@Bruntsfield.edin.sch.uk for support on uniform.  We have lots to share!

Cross Country Running update.

Many thanks to Mrs Ramsay for supporting with our various staff! All our runners have done amazing this year with great performances from everyone.

Meadows XC: We had a fantastic XC meet on the 30th of March 2026 at the Meadows. All the children ran really well. There were around 25 other schools competing and it gives the children especially in P6 a feel for what competition is like without being too overwhelming.

InverLeith XC: This competition is a lot harder and unfortunately came right after Kirkcaldy ( normally it is before it ) All the children that participated had been running on the Saturday and had to run again on the Monday, which is tough, but they managed it. The P7 boys came over all 3rd and the P7 girls came in 2nd as a team. The P6s did very well too considering they were not used to competition.

We look forward to updating you on the results of the Interscholastic’s Competition which takes place Monday 11th May!

Kirkcaldy Primary School XC Championships: This is the big one for all runners and we did very well indeed. The P7 boys were second overall with Oscar L coming in at 7:00 mins dead for a mile in 14th place Jack C came in 23rd at 7:14, Matthew W came in 26th at 7:19 and Luca P came in 29th at 7:21. They did an amazing job of getting second place against a strong P7 boys race.

P7 girls were 4th in the team event narrowly missing a medal. The team were Anya R-T who came in 17th at 7:57. Rose S came in 21st at 7:59, Milly T came in 33rd at 8:12 and Rebecca S came in 35th at 8:13.

The P6 girls came in 9th over all in the team event and the P6 boys came in 7th in the team event. They all did exceptionally well as this is a big event and thank you to all parents who turned up as that was very much appreciated.
