Head Teacher’s Update

Achievements

  • Elodie C in P5B performed amazingly well at the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics competition. Fantastic!
  • Silas Ng in P7D has qualified in both the Butterfly and Backstroke events for the Scottish Schools Finals in Aberdeen on Friday 5th June. As he is only permitted to compete in one event, he has chosen the 50m Backstroke. We wish him all the best!
  • Bruntsfield entered 4 teams of boys and girls from P6 and P7 into the Edinburgh Cross Country.  The P7 boys team came second!  Congratulations to them and all the teams for competing so well!
  • On Wednesday 29th April a combined P6/P7 Bruntsfield football team took part in the first round of the Inspectors Cup at Wardie playing fields. A total of 46 teams took part from across Edinburgh with only 20 able to go through to the next round. The Bruntsfield team won two of their three matches meaning that they have qualified for the second round! This is a significant achievement considering the high standard of players so congratulations to Josh V (P6A), Joshua H, Elliott S (P6C), Oscar L, Max L, Luca P (P7A), Jack R (P7B), Jack C, Ralphie D and Max W (P7D). They play the next round on Wednesday 13th May at Meggetland.

Scooters

We have lots of scooters which have been left unlocked in our bike shed.  Please ensure you take your child’s scooter home, or lock it up in a vacant space in the bike shelter.

Any scooters left uncollected and unlocked for a period of time will be removed from the bike shelter.

Summer Fair
The Bruntsfield Primary School Summer Fair returns on Saturday 23rd May, 12pm-3pm. Come watch the performances at the festival of rock, play some games, enjoy delicious baking and have a fun afternoon supporting the school.  This will be a cashless fair; payments can be taken by card or using our token system.  The fair relies on the school community to make it a success and we will need lots volunteers to help on the day with donations, setting up, manning stalls and clearing up. Thank you to those of you who have been in touch already.  We particularly need some additional first aiders to supplement our current pool. If you know you will available to help on Saturday 23rd May the links to sign up are in the most recent announcement on WhatsApp or

email bruntsfieldevents@gmail.com.  We hope that as many people from the school and wider community are able to join us on the day.

Bruntsfield Parents Football

We raised an incredible £600 for our chosen charity – Cancer Care last Saturday at our charity match v Eskbank Dads at Dalkeith Campus.  Thanks to all the parents who took part in an exciting 8-8 draw!

School Ceilidh – Thank You!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the School Ceilidh last Saturday – everyone had a great time with CeilidhKids leading the way through the dances. We saw so many happy faces and raised over £500 for our school!
