Head Teacher’s Update 30/05/2025

Dear Parents/Carers

Assembly

We looked at the school throughout the ages.  In addition, more of our talented musicians entertained us on the stage.  There were many certificates and special mentions given.

Achievements

  • P2C and P5A’s artwork are featured in the woof! children’s exhibition by Catherine Rayner and for Morningside gallery. The catalogue featuring the dog drawings, can be viewed digitally below or in the gallery from the Sunday 1st June.

Please contact us if you would like any further details – art@morningsidegallery.co.uk https://online.flippingbook.com/view/279733087/Congratulations to the children (and Brunzee!) who competed against Dalmeny Primary in a Spelling Bee this week.  Well done everyone!

  • We had an extremely skillful but unlucky girls football team this week who were knocked out of the EPSSA Cup by Liberton at Meggetland in a tense semi final! It was 1-1 after full time so 5 mins extra time and it was still tied. Then it went to golden goal. We had about 12 attempts that wouldn’t go in and unfortunately Liberton scored against the run of play. It was a brilliant Bruntsfield performance, and we were very unlucky at the end.

Alumni Former Pupils 130th Anniversary celebration

On Tuesday Bruntsfield held a 130th Anniversary Alumni celebration with all former and past pupils.  We had music and tours and cake and many stories and memories.  It was an amazing night!  Many thanks to all our amazing helpers!

Summer Fair (130th Anniversary Version!)

Our highly anticipated Summer Fair is tomorrow, Saturday 31st May, 12-3pm! We are looking forward to seeing many of you there and would like to share the following important information:

  • If you still have any donations of baking/books/games/uniform/football boots/beads/plants we can accept them at 10am on Saturday during set-up
  • Card payments are possible on the door but please do also bring cash for the various stalls
  • Please bring a reusable cup or bottle for drinks and help us reduce single-use plastic waste
  • Bring your bike along if it needs some TLC – basic bike maintenance will be offered by the active travel group
  • P6B mum Colette will be finishing her 400-km sponsored bike ride for GRI-UK at the Fair – look out for her at the Bake Sale stall and cheer her on!
  • Keep your fingers crossed for fine weather and we’ll see you tomorrow! 🙂

Parents Drop in/Coffee morning

Next Friday, 6th June from 9:00am-9:45am, we are having Janet Kirkwood (a parenting practitioner) visit to share with us on the topic ‘Understanding your child’s behaviour’. Janet visited us earlier in the year and encouraged us on ways to look after ourselves as parents. We look forward to welcoming her back and learning more on this really important topic.  See you next week in the Nurture Nook! Cheryl Tait (PSO)

Notification of works to Nursery Building (See attachment).
