Head Teacher’s Update 23/05/2025

Dear Parents/Carers,

Assembly

We were so lucky to have Grant Stott at Assembly today to tell us all about his time at Bruntsfield.  He shared stories about his time at Bruntsfield in the late 70s.  We learned about his friends and about the time he got the belt from the Head Teacher!

Visitors to the School

In addition to Grant Stott, Captain Timothy Hasler from the Lothian and Borders Cadet Platoon visited to speak to the P.7 Friday Neurodiversity group about cadets.

The P.6 Friday Neurodiversity Group had Chris Martin from the Social Enterprise Academy to talk about Enterprise and how we can get involved.  We may look to use his expertise in year stages next year.

Friday Parent Coffee and Drop In Morning

Next Friday (30th May from 9:00-9:45am) the parent drop-in session in a P1 mingle. This is an opportunity for any parents of P1 pupils to pop into the Nurture Nook, have a cup of tea/coffee and chat together as parents of the same-aged pupils. We hope offering this space will help parents to network and support one another.

Look forward to seeing you then.

Summer Fair

Don’t forget it’s the Summer Fair on Saturday 31st May, from 12 midday till 3pm. There’ll be lots of games, crafts, food and stellar performances to enjoy, and all proceeds will go towards projects that benefit the school and our kids.

We still need plenty of volunteers and donations to make the event a success – check out the information on the Parent Community website, and keep an eye out for further messages from your class rep. As the saying goes, ‘many hands make light work’.

Alumni Event

Don’t forget to tell friends, neighbours and relatives about our Alumini 130 Year Anniversary get together on Tuesday 27th May from 6pm to 8pm.

We are still looking for some bakery as we will be serving tea and coffee during the evening.  If you can help with catering, that would be fantastic!

Summer Kayak Club

Edinburgh Schools Kayak Club, who work closely with Active Schools are running a summer camp this year.  The Paddle Sports Camps offer children aged 8 to 18 a range of activities including Kayaking, Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP), Canoe Adventures, Water Safety Games and Nature Exploration.  I’m pleased to say as well as direct bookings, ESKC offer 80 free places for Young Carers to attend the camps. (See attachment).

School Photos

For those parents who are yet to order online, they have until Sunday 1st June 2025 to take advantage of free delivery back to school. All details in the pack.

Kind regards,
