Head Teacher’s Update 21/03/2025

Dear Parents/Carers,

Assembly

Today was all about Comic Relief!  The whole school met in the Hall for dancing, singing and a whole lot of fun!  Thanks to our Comic Relief organising team Miss Doig, Ms Knust, Mrs Fudge and Mrs McLachlan for an amazing time.  Hopefully we have raised a great deal of money for the charity.  I’ll let you know in due course.

Masonry Paint

If anyone has some masonry paint they can donate to the school for our outdoor classroom, please let the School Office or Mr Gilhooley know.

Visits to the School

Our elected members have been very interested on our Outright Campaign for our Rights Respecting Schools Gold Accreditation.  Daniel Johnson MSP visited us last week and we are looking forward to welcoming The Secretary of State for Scotland Ian Murray MP.  It is great we have our hard work and effort recognised in many ways!

Uniform

Looking through lost property, we have lots of sweaters and cardigans which are unmarked.  Please ensure you have marked/sewn/ironed your child’s name near or on the label so that we can return these items.

Remember to use the discrete email if you would like any support with uniform Family@bruntsfield.edin.sch.uk

Crossing patrol

Yet again, we have a vacancy for a school crossing patrol guides in the local area.  Please assist us if you can!

The closing date for the vacancies is the 31st of March and the post reference number on myjobscotland is EDN30473. As a shortcut to the vacancy candidates can either click on the link below or put School Crossing Patrol into the key words box on the website and this will bring up only school crossing vacancies instead of having to scroll through all of the Edinburgh council vacancies.

Science

As you may know, Edinburgh Science is a charity organisation with a mission to inspire and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to value and use science and tech today, to solve the problems of tomorrow. We do this by creating and delivering world-class science festivals, as well as through our schools touring programme Generation Science.

Under the 2025 theme of Spaceship Earth, we invite families to join us as we tackle the challenges of living on a planet with finite resources through the lenses of science fiction and space exploration.   The Edinburgh Science Festival will run during the Easter holidays, from 5 – 20 April 2025, and 40% of our family-focused activities and events are FREE.    What’s On – Edinburgh Science

Kind regards,

Stephen Gilhooley
