Head Teacher’s Update 22/11/2024

Assembly

Dear Parents/Carers,

Both upper and lower assemblies today focussed on the World Children’s Day Outright Campaign and spoke about COP and the Climate Challenge. We also celebrated achievements and gave out our values certificates.

Achievements

On the 16th of November, Izzy in P6/7 took part in the Liz Atkinson TID Games diving competition, representing Bruntsfield Primary School and she won both the gold medal in her category and the overall championship (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/ZQAHbBeJvvJXMnZf/)! But not only that, this past weekend, Izzy went to Dublin for the Irish Open Diving Championship 2024 and took part in 2 competitions for Novice divers. She brought home a bronze medal and a silver one!

(https://www.facebook.com/share/p/b6Ei7n2R8oCBCRnJ/) She’s been working really hard to get such great results – she trains 6 days (16 hours) every week!

Izzy showing dedication, her skills and our two values:- perseverance and courage!

Friday Drop in

Mrs Tait’s (PSO) Friday coffee mornings have been running for a few weeks now.  It’s been good to chat to so many parents and carers already!

She has arranged a few special visitors to come in and talk about a theme chosen by our parents.  These include the School Nurse, a parent talking about parent and family wellbeing and introducing ‘Zones of Regulation.’  Find out more in the attachment.

Parent Consultations

Hopefully you have your time slot booked for our biannual Parent Consultations next week.  Please respect our 10 minute time slot. It does have a knock on effect on others if you run over.  Our Support for Learning Team and P7 Transition Teacher will be available during the 3 days.  Senior Leaders will also be in attendance should you want to discuss anything further.  Looking forward to seeing you all!

Asda schools initiative

Parentkind is a charity that supports school PTAs. They have teamed up with Asda. Asda is providing millions of pounds for donations. These donations will go to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative. To support our School, start by opting in through the Asda Rewards app. Choose our school. Then, shop and scan in store or shop online at Asda.com.

Between 2nd September and 30th November 2024, every time you shop with Asda using your Asda Rewards app, Asda will donate 0.5% of the value of your shop. The donation goes to your chosen Primary school. Also, every time somebody opts-in to support our Primary school, Asda will give an additional £1 to the school Cashpot. Plus, it doesn’t stop there – Asda are also giving £50 to every school to get them started.

The supermarket has joined forces with Joe Wicks to support the initiative – look out for the TV advert, radio ads and social media coverage!

1. Download the Asda Rewards app, register and opt-in to Cashpot for Schools (make sure you have the latest version of the app installed)

2. Choose our Primary School – either searching by name or postcode

3. Shop instore across Asda and George, or online at Asda.com and start filling your Cashpot as you shop

Asda does the rest. All money raised will be donated to Bruntsfield. They will spend it on the things they need the most. Remember, anyone can sign up – so start spreading the news and raising funds for our school.
