Head Teacher’s Update 08/11/2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

Assembly

The theme for Assembly today was Remembrance. We all remember and reflect about those who perished during different conflicts past and present throughout the world.  We will have a silent minute on Monday in school as a mark of respect.

Friday Coffee Morning

Mrs Tait (PSO) will be hosting weekly coffee mornings. This will give our parents a chance to meet each other. They can also discuss school, home, and community life.  I hope to be there to answer any immediate queries. We hope to host key note speakers in the future.  Friday mornings at 9am in the Nurture Nook (Bike Shed Entrance).

P5 Show and Sharing Learning

We had an amazing Viking extravaganza with singing, dancing and fine acting.  Afterwards, our P5 parents were invited into classes to experience some Viking themed activities.  Everyone really enjoyed themselves! Well done and thanks to all our P5 children and staff!

Christmas Lunch Menu – Thursday 12th December

We shall be serving our Christmas lunch menu on Thursday 12th December, please see attached menu.  We will not be changing the ParentPay menu therefore please select Option 1 if your child would like roast turkey or Option 2 if your child would like the vegetarian haggis option.  There will be no baked potatoes available on this date.  Please ensure you book this festive lunch by Wednesday 4th December.

Thank you!

Many thanks to our Parent Council and the wider Parent body for the funding the school has received for new infant books, Outdoor Learning equipment and projects, one new Promethean Board and agreed, in principle, funds to go towards a new kitchen in our GP Space.  Your support and funding goes a long way to ensuring we have an improved learning environment and resource for all our Bruntsfield Community.

Rights Respecting Schools Leadership Group

Last Friday our Rights Respecters welcomed the children’s rights group from Canaan Lane Primary School. Our pupils shared the children’s rights work we do at Bruntsfield to help Canaan Lane work towards achieving their Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award.

Bruntsfield high achievers!

We are thrilled to announce that  Elsie S in P2A is the winner of The City of Edinburgh Council and bus shelter advertising company JCDecaux recent artwork competition! Pupils from Edinburgh schools were invited to create designs to be showcased along Princes Street, Edinburgh as digital posters in bus shelters.  The winning design (see attachment) was very colourful and bold!
