Head Teacher’s Update 27/10/2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Hallowe’en fun

Every class (excluding P6 at skiing lessons), had a fun time at our Hallowe’en dances.  We played games and danced for nearly an hour!  The children looked magnificent in their costumes and had an amazing morning.  Thanks to the Parent Council for providing funds for a treat for every child and prizes for games.  Photos can be found on our X Page @BPSlearners

Outdoor learning

Next week our pupils will be celebrating Global Outdoor Classroom Day. The teachers will be posting photos on our X (formerly Twitter) page of the activities.

Industrial Action

You may have read in the media that one of the main unions for support staff plan to strike on Wednesday 8th November 2023.  We are not sure if this will definitely go ahead, but if it is confirmed nearer the time, I will be in touch with the information you need as a family.

P1 Open Day (2024 intake)

Bruntsfield Primary School Open Day will be held on Thursday, November 2nd of this year. If your child was born between March 1st, 2019 and February 29th, 2020, they are required to begin Primary School in August 2024. Bruntsfield will be open to parents and families on a drop in basis from 9.15am – 10.15am and 1.45pm – 2.45pm.

The registration period for P1 runs from October 30th to November 17th, 2023, and must be completed online. To register, follow the link provided.

Please let your family and friends know.

Lost property was not in the front playground this morning as scheduled.  Apologies for this.  Lost property will be displayed next Friday, weather dependent.

Lunch boxes and bottles

We have had lots of drinking bottles and packed lunch boxes go missing, or unclaimed recently.  Please ensure your child’s name is on everything they bring in.  Permanent marker works well on these items.

Kind regards,

Stephen Gilhooley
