Dear Parents/Carers,
Assembly
Once again, we had the pleasure of joining up P3-P7 together in the Stage Hall for a joint assembly. It was a sharing learning assembly. The children brought and array of their work to share with their peers. It was a pleasure to see the children proudly share their work and everyone celebrating together.
P3 Harvest Hoedown
We had a great time at the P3 Show celebrating all things harvest and Autumn with Primary 3! The children’s singing and dancing was of a very high standard, as was the costumes and set. Many thanks to the P3 Team who worked tirelessly to ensure the children gave the best performance possible.
Bake Sale
Friday’s Bake Sale raised a very impressive £1214.10 for the school! Money raised is for outdoor equipment linked to trips beyond the school gates e.g. dry bags and orienteering resources. A huge thanks to all those who contributed baking and to our fantastic team of parent helpers who worked alongside our P7 pupil team on the day.
Parent Council Funding
Many thanks to all our Parent Council and the extended Forum for voting through our funding applications. Parents will be funding essential funding for loose parts play equipment, 1 Promethean Board, extra play equipment for P2, funding sets of reading books and blue print plans for future playground redevelopment. This will enhance the learning experiences for all our children in Bruntsfield!
Equalities update
Please see attachments for details on Parent Sessions.
Bikes and Scooters in the Shed
Some families have left their bikes and scooters in our shed for a very long time! (see attachment). Please take your bikes away to create space for others.
Whole Family Wellbeing
The Whole Family Wellbeing Team have collated a list of free and low-cost activities for families which are taking place over the school holidays. Please share the below and attached information widely with families and colleagues. If you are aware of any other activities which could be added to this or any future school holiday activity lists, please contact wholefamilywellbeing@edinburgh.gov.uk
School holidays can be a challenging time for many families. To support families in Edinburgh we’ve details on our web pages of free or low-cost activities in Edinburgh.
Take your kids on the train for £1, go to soft play, visit the museums, book a woodland walk, do some arts and crafts or learn about looking after pets. We’re updating the activities all the time, so please keep checking before and during the holidays on our Family Holiday Activity page. Check our other Support for Families web pages for lots of other supports and activities provided by different organisations the rest of the year. If you need any help finding support for you or your child, please email supportingparentsandcarers@edinburgh.gov.uk
Pumpkin donation for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity – they need your help!
Halloween is one of the most exciting times of the year for many children and for those children who can’t get to the pumpkin patch, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity brings the pumpkin patch to them! This year, the charity needs a hand filling their patch and we’d love to help. After half term, we’ll be running a pumpkin collection! If children and their families would like to donate a pumpkin, one of our parents will be collecting them at drop off at the School Main Entrance on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th October and delivering them to the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital.
October Mid Term
Don’t forget! We are on holiday next week. Pupils return on Tuesday 22nd of October at the usual times. Have a great time whatever you have planned!
Kind regards,
Stephen Gilhooley
