Dear Parents/Carers,
Meet the Teacher
We had a fantastic turn out from our families on Tuesday evening for our ‘Meet the Teacher’ event. Mr Gilhooley gave two talks and parents and children were able to look round the classroom, talk to the teacher and try out a few activities. We are looking forward to a really successful year ahead!
Trading Cards
I have received a few complaints about trading cards in school especially Pokemon and football cards. Most children love collecting them, but they have caused arguments and in some cases cards have gone missing.
We discussed the issue with the new Pupil Council and they were unanimous that the cards should be banned from school. Please discuss this, if applicable, with your child at home.
Late coming
We may all be late on some occasions, but unfortunately there are a few families who are late almost every day. This causes disruption to your child’s learning and the learning of others in the class. It can also affect their self-esteem. Please ensure your child is in the line at the right time.
Side doors
On a few occasions over the last few weeks, parents and carers have entered the school via the two side doors. This is a breach of our security.
We love having people in our school! However, if you need access, or to speak to someone, please sign in at the Office via the Main Entrance.
Pupil Support Officer (PSO)
Next Tuesday we will be interviewing for a new PSO for Bruntsfield. Th role includes working with groups and individual children using nurture strategies, working with families on attendance and supporting families with common issues. All going well, we will have this person in post within 6 weeks.
Edinburgh September Weekend
School will be closed on Monday 16th September and reopen to all pupils on Tuesday 17th September.
Have a lovely long weekend!
Kind regards,
Stephen Gilhooley
