Head Teacher’s Update 14/06/2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

Assembly

The Upper Assembly discussed  looking forward and back.  Do you want to be a caterpillar or a butterfly?  The Lower Assembly were discussing the Euros and emphasising the importance of teamwork.  They were also entertained by a dance by P3.

P7 Show

We are all mesmerised by the performance of our P7 pupils at their show.  They wrote the script, supported the technology, designed the costumes and backdrops and helped select their songs, dance and jokes.  Great reaction from our audiences.  Many thanks to our P7 Team – Susan P Ariel, Siu, Mrs Fudge, Mrs Knust and Mrs McLachlan for all their hard work straight after camp fortnight!

Classroom Organisation

We have thought long and hard to get to a final decision about our staff team moving forward into the new session.  I’m delighted to announce we will welcome 4 new members of staff.  Mr Cursiter, Miss Cumming, Miss Galloway and Mrs Crow.  In addition, we welcome back Mrs Armit from maternity.  Unfortunately, we will be saying farewell and good luck to Miss Zagorac, Miss Armstrong, Mrs Ross and Miss Bonner.  We have really enjoyed having them in the Bruntsfield team and wish them all the best in their new ventures.  Mrs Wright is expecting a new member in her household over the summer and won’t be with us next session too. Exciting times!

All classes and children will experience at least one transition visit with their new class over the coming fortnight.

Bruntsfield Football Festival

A reminder that the Bruntsfield football end of season celebration and boot and bake sale takes place this Saturday. The boot/kit/bake stall will be on Harrison Park West just down from the playpark from 10am to 12noon.

Please do bring along your baking contributions (home baked or otherwise, but please mark clearly if contains nuts or sesame) and any old football kit or boots that you can donate. This is a great chance to snap up a bargain for next season! See you there!

Concert to support singing in Bruntsfield

We need your support to bring the transformative power of music into our classrooms!

We are thrilled to present you with an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact on our school’s music program. Music education is a cornerstone of our children’s development, offering numerous benefits that stretch far beyond the classroom—from enhancing cognitive skills and academic performance to fostering creativity and boosting self-esteem.

Our Vision: Expanding Music Education for All.  Our goal is to provide specialist music and singing lessons, delivered by a dedicated music tutor who will work closely with all year groups. This tutor will regularly deliver lessons on musicianship, singing techniques, and performance skills.

The Role of Charanga. Our school is subscribed to Charanga, an online music teaching platform brimming with resources and lesson packs for teachers. Our specialist tutor will use Charanga to inspire classroom teachers to integrate more music into their everyday lessons, creating a lasting impact.

Our P5 students experienced a trial program this year, and the results were nothing short of inspiring. Their enthusiasm and progress in music have been remarkable! To showcase their achievements, the P5 students will perform two songs as a mass choir at our fundraising concert. Their performance is a testament to the positive impact of specialist music education and a preview of what we can achieve with your support

The Fundraising Concert: A Night to Remember – Get ready for an evening of unforgettable performances showcasing the incredible talent within our school community. Here’s what you can look forward to: – Performances from our after-school choir and guitar, violin, and cello ensembles. – Show-stopping acts from the winners of our school’s Talent Show. – A special program by our music tutors, showcasing their exceptional skills and passion for teaching

By supporting our fundraising event, you are investing in our children’s future. Here’s how your contribution will make a difference: –

Specialist Music Lessons: Your support will enable us to hire a dedicated music tutor, ensuring all students receive high-quality music and singing instruction. –

Enhanced Resources for Teachers: With access to Charanga’s extensive library of resources, our teachers will be better equipped to incorporate music into their daily lessons, enriching the overall educational experience.

A Lifelong Love for Music: By providing comprehensive music education, we aim to nurture a lifelong appreciation for the arts, helping our children develop new skills, confidence, and creativity.

Join Us in Making a Difference!

We invite you to join us in this important initiative. Your generosity and support will help us bring the joy of music to every child in our school. Together, we can create a vibrant and dynamic music program that will benefit our students for years to come. Let’s make some music magic happen!
