Head Teacher’s Update 11/11/2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Uniform

There are still some children who continue to wear casual clothes to school. The minimum requirement is a school sweater/cardigan or a blue jumper.  PE kit can be worn underneath. Please support the children to proudly wear the school colours.

New Books!

A while ago, Penguin Books ran a competition as part of their ‘Lit in Colour’ campaign, to win a bundle of children’s books by authors of colour for your primary school. It wasn’t just a ‘put your name in the hat’ draw, you had to state your case why you thought your school was deserving. Jenni, our Communications Rep, entered on behalf of the Parent Council, and wrote about our work last year with the A+ Equalities Group over the past year and how the book bundle would enable us to take some of the action points from that forward by enhancing our school library.  We won!  Many thanks to Jenni for this.  Look out for the photographs on Twitter and the Website.  Our learners will love the new books and novels!

Late Coming

There are the odd occasions where families are running late for whatever reason.  However, our late coming seems to have increased over the last few weeks, which is concerning.  Just 5 minutes late every day is the equivalent of over 3 school days per school session! Please ensure your child is in the line on time.

‘Dogs of Bruntsfield’ 2023 calendar

A message from our P7 team raising money for their Year Book:

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and their dogs, it is now possible to order the fundraising calendar, “Dogs of Bruntsfield Primary!”

A group of P7 girls have been working very hard to bring this together.

A great Christmas gift raising money for the SSPCA rescue centre in Bonaly. Thank you!

Armistice Day

Today, at 11am, the whole school stopped for a minute as a mark of remembrance for Armistice Day to remember all our family and friends who have died in conflict over many years.  All of our pupils were very respectful.

Save the date!

Winter Fair – Friday 9th December from 6pm – 8pm in the two school halls.

Have a great weekend!
