Dear Parents,
Another week has gone in a flash! Lots of exciting things happening in and around the school at the moment.
Meet the Teacher
P1 parents from two of our 3 classes turned up in good numbers to take part in our first Meet the Teacher event. Parents had the opportunity to hear from their child’s teacher and had a look at some of the learning and play resources in the classrooms. Parents were delighted to be back in school! P1C parents will join their teacher on Tuesday 13th September.
P2 – P7 Meet the Teacher will take place on Wednesday 14th September from 4pm – 5.30pm. There will be two talks from Mr Gilhooley in the Lower Hall at 4pm and 4.45pm. You may drop in to your child’s class, meet the teacher and find out about their learning at any point during this time.
Phones
Mobile phones are not to be brought to school as a general rule for a number of health and safety reasons. Should your child need to bring their phone into school for a specific event, please let the class teacher know and they can find a safe space for the expensive piece of technology during the school day.
Road safety
The exclusion zone is working, by in large. However, I have witnessed a few cars attempting to get close to the school to drop off. Please respect the rules and keep all our children safe.
Communication
I have spent some time looking again at ways we can communicate with you better. I will confirm a strategy next week, or as soon as I can.
Foyer Competition
We ran a ‘redesign our foyer’ competition open to all of our learners from P3 upwards. I have lots of entries. The winners will spend time next week in my office having a celebration. I’m looking forward to sharing the ideas with the community next week.
Edinburgh Autumn Holiday
The school will be closed on Monday 22nd September due to the annual autumn holiday. All pupils will resume on Tuesday 23rd at the usual times.
Kind regards,
Stephen Gilhooley
