Head Teacher’s Blog 10/03/2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

School Updates:

  • Badminton Team: well done to our P7 Badminton Team, Aaron, Alex, Brune, Emma, Ewan, Matthew, Megan and Sara who represented  Bruntsfield at the Edinburgh School’s Competition at St George’s on Sunday. 6 wonderful medals were won by the team. They all enjoyed the day and are looking forward to their next competition on Sunday 27 March.
  • Sharing the Learning: great stories are being written by all the children. I really enjoyed reading a story from Gregory about the weather forecast, an adventure and finally a news report! Well done Gregory.
  • Healthy Morning Snacks: some of the children are asking for snacks at break time, it can be a long day to lunch time if they don’t have any. If anyone needs help with this, please let us know via admin@bruntsfield.edin.sch.uk.
  • Consultation on the Staggered School Day: Questionnaires will be sent to pupils, staff, parents and carers next week to gather views on starting and finishing times for P6 and P7 classes. Please take a few minutes to complete and we shall share the results with you in due course.
  • Closing the Chain on the Gate into School: We have a chain on the main gate as you come into school. This is to help prevent any child being able to open the gate and run out into the road. We haven’t had any one try to get out of school for a very long time, but best we are on the safe side! Your help in supporting this, by closing the chain every time, is much appreciated.

General Information:

  • Online Safety: a parent has recommended this website from the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Education Team who aim to help protect children from online child sexual abuse. https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/.
  • Planning Permission in the Community: we have received information on planning permission for St Oswald’s Hall (previously used as the Annex for Boroughmuir High School, before the new school was built). Details are in the plans at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/planningcomments  (Application Number: 22/00696/FUL and 22/00714/FUL).

As always, if there is anything we can do to help, please let us know via admin@bruntsfield.edin.sch.uk.

Kind regards,

Carol Kyle
