Dear Parents/Carers,
Assembly
At our Assembly today, we explored Zones of Regulation and what that might mean for us all. We also celebrated achievements, gave out our certificates and announced class of the week – which was P4B!
Alumni Open Day
As part of our Bruntsfield 135 year Celebrations, we will be hosting an Alumni Open Evening on Tuesday 27th May from 6pm in Bruntsfield School. We will provide tours of the school and provide a chance for former pupils to meet in the Stage Hall where we will have a cup of tea and a look at all our old memorabilia including photos, log books and diaries. (See attachment).
Please spread the word. It would be great to meet friends old and new!
Achievements
Last night, Mr Kane attended the Green Pencil Awards Ceremony at the City Chambers hosted by the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, where Manus O from P6B was one of only four Highly Commended finalists. Also Highly Commended was Sofia B, one of our former pupils, currently in S1 at James Gillespies. Unfortunately neither won the overall prize, however, they did receive a goodie bag with prizes and a book token. Additionally to being Highly Commended, both pupils will have their writing added to a Time Capsule which will be buried within Edinburgh’s North Bridge as part of the current renovations and to celebrate “Edinburgh 900”, as part of Edinburgh’s 900 year celebrations. Well done to both!
P3 Coffee morning and mingle
Thanks to Mrs Tait for organising the Bruntsfield Toy Swap on Friday Morning (25th). Over 40 items were exchanged over the morning. Thanks to everyone who took part.
Next Friday (2nd May from 9:00-9:45am) the parent drop-in session in a P3 mingle. This is an opportunity for any parents of P3 pupils to pop into the Nurture Nook, have a cup of tea/coffee and chat together as parents of the same-aged pupils. We hope offering this space will help parents to network and support one another.
Party Box is back!
Reduce ocean plastics and carbon emissions by borrowing the Party Box from school reception for your kids parties this year. Box contains 16 x reusable plastic cups, plates, bowls, cutlery, straws, plus some serving trays and cotton napkins. Box is now smaller so you can carry it home for the weekend. Provided by Edinburgh Communities Climate Action Network (www.eccan.scot) and if successful will roll out to other schools – so please give it a try!
Sickness Bugs
Should your child have a vomiting/diarrhoea illness, they should be absent for 48 hours since their last episode to avoid spreading their bug. For the benefit of everyone, please adhere to this advisory.
