Teacher’s Update 10/01/2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

HNY!

Assembly

Our Assemblies had a focus on new beginnings and we shared our new positive behaviour policy and awards.  Please ask your child about Ready, Respectful and Safe and what it means.  You might like to try it in your own household. (See PP Attachment for details.)

Friday Parents Club

Next Friday, the 17th January, Amy Hawthorne (our school nurse) will be in the Nurture Nook to share some tips and advice in relation to SLEEP. This was one of the topics raised by parents last term during general drop-in sessions so we hope it will be of help.

Do pop in (9:00-9:45am) and have a cup of tea or coffee. We’d love to see you there. Absolutely everyone welcome!

Lost Property

We are only back a week and Lost Property has increased!  Please encourage your child to check lost property for missing items.  We will continue to display lost property every Friday outside the Main Entrance.

School Website

The current website needs updated and given a little TLC!  If you have time and can use WordPress, please get in touch.

Block boxes

We have had various reports from staff in after school clubs that children are climbing in the block boxes in the front playground  and knocking the windows.  Please discourage your child from climbing on these boxes after school.

Absence

If your child is to be absent, please phone the School Office by 8.30am , leaving the child’s name, class and teacher.  Thank you.

Chess

Help us defend the title! Bruntsfield is the defending Scottish school team chess champion and the next championship tournament will be coming up on 22 February. This year, we are looking for one more player with a tournament experience to join the team of four players. Please contact Wataru Uegaki (Haruo P5C’s father) at wuegaki@gmail.com if your child has a tournament experience and would like to join the Bruntsfield team.

The details of the competition can be found here: https://www.chessscotland.com/calendar/cs-scottish-schools-team-championships/

Bruntsfield Primary Stage Club tread the boards!

Bruntsfield Primary Stage Club make their WORLD STAGE DEBUT in March 2025 in our first ever STAGE CLUB production of LITTLE ORPHAN AGGIE.  We are thrilled to be producing our first show with an incredible cast of 60 from Bruntsfield.

For those that don’t know what we do – let us explain – Stage Club takes original stories and puts a modern/local spin on them. Expect updated songs, funny acting and awesome dances.

Our aim is to put on a FULL SCALE PRODUCTION in a professional theatre.

LITTLE ORPHAN AGGIE takes the best bits from the original film, Broadway phenomenal and the remixed songs from over the years and makes a BRAND NEW show for our students.Miss Brannigan runs the Oxgangs Orphanage, and not very well to put it lightly. Daddy Warburton the local celebrity and entrepreneur is looking for a child to stay with him to help improve his image. When his assistant Gracie returns with Aggie – the story takes some twists & turns!
Do you remember in the original film when she visits a circus? nope? That’s because it only happens in OUR VERSION of this classic tale.

Come and join us as we take you on a wonderful journey of friendship & family, working to achieve your goals and always believing that THE SUN WILL COME OUT TOMORROW.

Support BPSC as they make their debut performance on the Church Hill stage in March 2025.
