Assembly
Our lower school assembly Mrs Lamond and the children explored our current Building Resilience topic and discussed examples of people they know who make a difference. In the upper assembly, Mr Wood and the children evaluated our current maths and numeracy experiences and suggested ideas for improvement.
Achievements!
Tennis – Well done to Matteo Peace (P3A) who was selected to represent the East of Scotland Tennis Team for the LTA 8U County Cup Event that took place at Aberdeen Tennis Centre on 28th April.
Badminton – 9 of our pupils (4 girls and 5 boys) participated in the tournament last Sunday at Penicuik.
Drupadh D (P7C) won the Midlothian U13s Boys ‘B’ Singles. In addition, Drupadh and James G (P7C) won the Boys ‘B’ Doubles tournament. Theo from P6 was the runner up in the Boys ‘B’ Singles. Our coach, Mike supported the team with his tips and presence.
In addition, Drupadh and James were selected to represent Lothian Badminton in the upcoming Yonex Anglo Scottish Team Event in Tyneside Badminton Centre on 11th May.
Cross Country – We had a large group of runners in the Scottish Cross Country Championships in Kirkcaldy this year. The P6 girls over all came 4th in Scotland as a team. Out of 100 children in the race, Isolde placed 16th , Cora came 24th , Skye placed 26th and Abigail came 35th
P6 boys team came over all 11th in Scotland. P7 girls came 2nd over all in Scotland with Cecilia coming in 11th Izzy 13th, Jessica S 27th and Cora 40th out of 100 runners. They got a medal each. The P7 boys came 9th over all in Scotland with Ruaridh F 31st Archie R 45th Tristan 70th and Albert 71 out of 90. Fantastic achievement from everyone! Mrs Ramsay and the school were very proud!
Football – Well done to our the P7 and P6 boys football teams who progressed to the second round of the Edinburgh Inspector and School Board Cups.
Parent Ceilidh
It seemed to be a great success with enthusiastic participation all round from the dancing, led by Ceilidh Kids, to lots of games at the interval. Big thanks to our pipers and to everyone for making it a lot of fun and raising £820 for the school! Thanks to all who helped organise the event!
Lost Property
We currently have a mountain of lost property slowly accumulating – from hats to lunchboxes, watches to socks!
We would be able to return items if they were labelled, or had the name permanently marked with pen. Please ensure you do this to prevent further loss, or damage.
‘Come and Sing’
St Mary’s Cathedral Palmerston Place, Edinburgh EH12 5AW T: 0131 225 6293 are hosting a ‘Come and Sing’ event for children in P3-7 on Saturday 1 June from2pm – 4.15 pm.

Celebration
Good luck to Mrs Wyatt, our P1/2 Teacher who is getting married on Saturday. We all hope she has the best day! Fingers crossed for good weather!
May Day Holiday School will be closed to pupils on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th May due to the May Day Holiday and In-Service Day. All resume at the usual times on Wednesday 8th May. Enjoy the long weekend with friends and family! Kind regards, Stephen Gilhooley
