Dear Parents and Carers,

  • The children carved wonderful pumpkins for our Parent Council Pumpkin Contest. They had an impressive 83 entries! The winner for the scariest pumpkin was Isolde in P3, and the winner of most original pumpkin was Alexandra, also in P3. Well done Isolde and Alexandra!
  • Communication Policy: we are very pleased to share our Communication Policy, which we finalised on the Inservice Day. It is on our Website to share.
  • P1 Places for 2021-2022: The website to register for your child’s P1 place in their catchment school will open later today. See www.edinburgh.gov.uk/p1registration for further information.
  • Poppy Display: classes are sharing their poppy display in the windows, some are up already and look absolutely beautiful. Well done everyone.
  • Covid-19 Update: Face Coverings: Latest Government Advice is for parents and careers to wear face coverings when dropping and collecting  children off and from school. I see a lot of people doing this, thank you.
  • School Gates: Please remember to step back from the school gates to allow everyone to maintain social distancing on arrival and departure.
  • Sharing the Space: Please remember our neighbours who live in the street are able to use the road at any time. This week, I have been contacted by neighbours who have found leaving their homes upsetting. If we work together we can make this work.
  • ASL Service together with NHS partners are coordinating a series of 5 online Parent Information Sessions for parents of current pre-school pupils either with an autism diagnosis or presenting with similar social communication difficulties. If a health professional has already discussed the possibility of an autism diagnosis with you, the sessions will take place on Microsoft Teams. Please book a place by Monday 9th November 2020 by calling 0131 469 2850 or emailing autisminfo@ea.edin.sch.uk
  • Edinburgh’s Children’s Partnership with Family Support Services is really eager to hear the views of Parents and Carers on how you coped during the initial COVID-19 lockdown period and how they can best respond to any new and existing needs that you may have.   • Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, is on Saturday 14 November and symbolizes the spiritual ‘victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance’. For all who celebrate Diwali, I hope you have a lovely time.
