Head Teacher’s Update 16/12/2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Festive fun!

This week, we have had 7 successful Christmas Parties, two visits to the cinema to see a Christmas classic and P7 visiting Boroughmuir to attend their annual Carol Concert.  We are very much looking forward to the panto for P1-4 on Monday and our school festive sing along on Tuesday morning.  Each class will leave school on Tuesday singing their song – do join in!

Late coming and attendance

If your child is to be very late or absent, please phone the school and leave a message by 9am.  This is important.  If we don’t hear from home by 9.30am, we will send a message to you. This means we have not heard from you that morning.  It is imperative we receive an acknowledgement by phone or by e-mail should you receive our message so that we know your child is safe and at home with you or family.  If you have new contact details, please inform the Office immediately.  Thanks for your support.

Winter Fair

We had an extremely popular and successful Christmas Fair this year.  What a turn out!  Many thanks to all our Parent Helpers.  Everyone I spoke to were having a great time.  We will look to have more of these community fundraising events into the new year. I don’t have a grand total to share as yet, but I’m sure the money raised was considerable.  The money taken from the children’s handmade stalls will go directly back into the classrooms to spend on a specific resource identifies by the children.

Christmas Trees

Visitors, staff and children have all marvelled at our 3 trees this year.  They still look good.  After Tuesday morning, we would like them to go to a good home.  We have 2×13 foot trees and 1×7 foot tree.  For a small donation to the school, you could have one for your home.  Please enquire at the Office.  You may need a van for the 2 bigger ones!

Reminder! Dates for your diary

Tuesday 20th December:

P1-P3 – 12.50pm dismissal

P4-P7 – 1pm dismissal

Thursday 5th January – all pupils return at the usual times.

Kind regards,

Stephen Gilhooley
