Head Teacher’s Blog 17/12/2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

  • Hard to believe we are almost at the end of 2020. What a year it has been! Huge congratulations to all the staff, the children and yourselves for doing all we have done to keep the school safe from Covid-19. We still have a few days to go, so please keep up the social distancing, handwashing and face coverings!
  • You raised a wonderful £796 through Just Giving for Save the Children Christmas/ Winter Jumper Day. Thank you everyone!
  • Ian Murray has not been able to run his usual Christmas Card Competition this year and has chosen some of the designs they received last year for this year’s card. The card selected belongs to Shivanyaah Satheesh in P5C, and the design is now on thousands of cards going across the country. Well done Shivanyaah.
  • Kidzcare Update: Some children, mostly P7s, are returning to the school and passing sweets to the children in the Kidzcare groups. Whilst this is very kind of them, please remind all the children not to do this. We are hoping to avoid sharing during Covid19 times and we don’t want any of the younger children to think this is something they can engage in.
  • Covid-19 Update: If any of the children test positive over the Christmas Holidays, an email has been sent to you with the details of what to do, it has also been posted on our website. The number to phone is 0131 200 2000 to allow the City of Edinburgh Council to continue to monitor the number of cases in Schools. The isolation time has been reduced from 14 to 10 days, following a positive case.
  • To get the 2021 off to a healthy start, Active Schools are launching free online sessions, for you the children to take part at home with family or by yourself, Starting Friday 1st January, weekdays at 4pm at:  Active Schools Edinburgh YouTube Channel
  • Mr Barry, who teaches P7A on a Monday and teachers non-contact time from Tuesday to Friday is moving to Craiglockhart Primary School after Christmas. Miss Louise Gallagher, will take over his position in the new year. Thank you Mr Barry for all you have done for the children at Bruntsfield and very best of luck in your new post.
  • Pupils return on Wednesday 6 January, staff have a Virtual Inservice Day on Tuesday 5 January.

School Closes at 12 noon for P3, P4 and P5 and 11.50am for P1, P2, P6 and P7 on Tuesday 22 December.

Please make sure your child knows who is collecting them, or if they are walking home by themselves.

Enjoy the holiday everyone, look after yourselves and each other,

Kindest regards,

Carol Kyle
