Swimming Gala 2017

Swimming Gala – 28th March 2018

I had the pleasure of accompanying a group of Primary seven pupils to the Edinburgh Council Swimming Gala held at the Commonwealth Pool. Our Sports coordinator Mrs Ingrid Ramsay and our Swimming Teacher Mrs Maureen Hunter selected pupils to represent our school in this popular event. It was extremely well organised and our pupils were a real credit to our school.

We had three teams each competing in one of the three main swimming relay races. Freya, Hugh, Tess and Charlie R competed in the breaststroke race, Phoebe, Matthew O, Erik and Freya competed in the backstroke race and Findlay, Tess, Lily and Innes competed in the freestyle race.

Our breaststroke team came 3rd in their heat, our backstroke team placed 3rd in their heat and our freestyle team got 1st place in their heat. We were a small team with big cheers during our relay races! Many thanks to the parents who were able to support us on the day. We were really proud of our results during the heats. The backstroke team were entered into the final which was another great achievement. Our freestyle team had a challenging final where they really got stuck in and placed overall 3rd which was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Findlay, Tess, Lily and Innes standing on the podium to receive their Bronze medals. A huge thank you to Mrs Ramsay and Mrs Hunter for all their organisation and making this possible.

Ms Laura Hunter
