We are delighted to share with you that our school is working towards becoming a ‘Rights Respecting School’. This is an award which is given to schools on behalf of UNICEF.
The Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) will help our pupils to grow into confident individuals and responsible citizens. By learning about their rights children also learn about the importance of respecting the rights of others.
Our pupils have already started developing an understanding of their rights in school. All the classes have written Class Charters which identify rights that they feel impact most on their school life. The pupils have also discussed how they will respect the rights of others when creating their Class Charters. In the Summer Term children will start to learn about specific rights as the school promotes a Right of the Month. Please ask your child about the Right of the Month to see what they have learned. A new pupil group, called the Rights Respecters, has been formed to lead the work of children’s rights in the school.
We really hope that you will feel able to support us and your child in working towards our goal of being a ‘Rights Respecting School’.
